after althaea’s mother reveals her affair to tyche and places the blame of it on his head for being an unwell creature of a person who “slowly became someone else that she did not bond her life to”, she dictates that this is the culmination of their research; that whatever plagues tyche is a part of his existence, innate and built into the very tapestry of his blood that will be passed along to his natural born children. he is blamed for his own oversight, unknowing he had passed this curse-like rot in his genetic code onto his children and that they too will grow up as sick and malformed mockeries of something akin to a “person”, and that very night he throws himself off his research platform and kills himself in shame of what he had deemed within himself as something worse than trying to stay with Alcmene for the sake of his kids; dooming them to the very torture he lives with every day
